MSc MEDICAL ANATOMY

Anatomy is the Science which deals with the structure of the body from macroscopic to the microscopic level .Human anatomy has for long been studied through dissection of Cadavers  which served as the basis for understanding the structure and functions of the Human body. The understanding of structural organization of the human body is essential, so that the Doctor knows which structure is affected in disease, which structure is being cut by him during operation.

The Department of Anatomy is established in 1995.The Department offers 3yr PG Course affiliated to M G University. In Kerala MSc .Medical Anatomy Course is offered only in this Institution.

During the Academic Year the students acquire well knowledge in various subjects like Bio-chemistry, Physiology, Genetics, Embryology and Histology. They also Acquire practical   knowledge in Dissection embalming, histo technique, museum

During the academic year students acquire comprehensive knowledge of Gross, Microscopic structure and development of human body, to provide a basis of the understanding of normal disposition of the organs and structures and anatomical basis.

At the end of the course they shall be able to comprehend the normal disposition, functional and cross-sectional anatomy of the various structures of the body along with applied anatomy. They also acquire knowledge about clinical aspects of anatomy, histopathology slide, and post-mortem and embalming.

 

CURRICULUM FOR MSc MEDICAL ANATOMY

First year of study is devoted to Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-chemistry

Second year will be devoted to Gross Anatomy, Micro Anatomy, Embryology and Applied aspects

Third Year will be devoted to research methodology, Dissertation, Teaching Experience, Gross Anatomy, Microanatomy, Embryology and applied aspect.

ELIGIBILTY FOR ADMISSION

  1. A candidate seeking admission to MSc. Medical Anatomy must have at least a second class at BSc .zoology or any of the following Paramedical Sciences from a recognized University or its equivalent-BSc Nursing, BSc Medical Microbiology BMRT, BPT, BSc.MLT. , Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Sidha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), B.Sc Perfusion Technology, B.Sc Optometry, B.Sc Dialysis Technology, B.Sc Medical Biochemistry, B.Sc Cardiovascular Technology (BCVT), Bachelor of Occupational Technology (BOT), Bachelor of Audiology & Speech language Pathology (B.ASLP).
  2. Relaxation allowed by Govt. Of Kerala for SC, ST and OEC
  3. 10% weight -age will be given to PG Qualification like MSc. Zoology, B.ed in Natural Science etc.
  4. Two seats are reserved for any Medical Graduate. In case of absence of such candidates the seat will be allotted to General merit Candidate

These includephysiotherapy, radiology, microbiology, Nursing, optometry, MLT, speech therapy, biomedical science, biochemistry, anatomy physiology and all other paramedical course.Work as tutours in private medical, dental, and, Ayurveda colleges.Another career field is histotechnique in laboratory fields.other opportunity in Private company those who make artificial limbs or organ, medical software developing companies, work as scientific research follow in private hospitals.Anatomists with a doctoral degree can advance to positions of associate, and full professor or to director of research in a university or medical center.
